Today I sit and ponder,
My existence in a world wrought with materialistic wonder.
With every twist. With every turn.
Another person is camped outside for hours
waiting to buy a façade well earned.
No truths being told.
Lives lost to illusions sold.
The latest fashion, gadget, diet, and dance,
All devoid of true happiness.
So many surrounded by fabricated bliss,
Engulfed in an emotional tryst.
Hundreds of fake social media friends.
No real face time, yet, which of these ‘Friends’ will standby until the end?
The ‘Like’. The ‘Follow’.
Most often, these virtual nods are hollow.
It’s time to get real, to make way,
For genuine people to who are willing to stay.
